NA unanimously passes Nepal Constitution (Second Amendment) Bill

Kathmandu, June 18 (RSS): Today’s meeting of the National Assembly has unanimously passed the Nepal Constitution (Second Amendment) Bill-2077 BS.

Chairperson of NA, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina forwarded the necessary process for vote division after Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, presented a proposal seeking passage of the bill.

Though it is the duty of opposition parties to criticize government’s activities, to make the government alert, the lawmakers of opposition parties in the NA and House of Representatives had already made public their decision to support the government without any condition in the issue of endorsing a new map incorporating Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhuran as a part of the constitution.

The government had forwarded constitution amendment proposal as per the Article 274 of the Constitution of Nepal.

Earlier to this, Law Minister Tumbahamphe said that unity and collaboration of political parties had taken Nepal’s independency, sovereignty and integrity to a new height.

She expressed the belief that other questions raised regarding constitution would be addressed gradually.

The Law Minister said, “This is the happy moment for us. We all have stood together on the issue of nationality. Today is the day of importance and pride in parliamentary practice.”

Extending gratitude to all political parties for standing above the partisan interest, she clarified that the government would move ahead to resolving the border dispute with India through dialogue based on facts and evidences.
